Information for couples wishing a civil wedding ceremony
at the « Clos de la République »
The granting of an authorization to celebrate a civil marriage or a registered partnership on the estate was the subject of an agreement signed with the civil registry office.
Without giving the full text of the agreement, it seemed necessary to give you the main conditions (these being the same for all premises in the canton of Vaud with the same authorization):
1) the ceremony is imperatively under the roof and can not take place in the open sky.
2) Marriages may be celebrated from Monday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm (article 19, paragraph 3 REC). The same applies to the registration of partnerships (20 paragraph 3 REC). No marriage can be celebrated, nor can a partnership be registered on Sunday or on a general holiday (Articles 72 (3) and 75 (2) ECO).
3) Civil marriages and / or partnership registrations must precede a religious marriage and any other religious ceremonies (blessing, etc.) that may take place on the same site. Consequently, any religious ceremony can only take place when the civil registrar officially closes the celebration of the marriage and / or has completed registration of the partnership.
4) Applications for the celebration of marriage “Au Clos de la République” should be addressed to the Registrar’s Office of the Vaud Canton Vaudois, rue du Simplon 18, 1800 Vevey, tel. 021 557 07 07, address etatcivil.vevey@vd.ch
5) After the date of the celebration of the marriage or the registration of the partnership, the Registry Office of the East Vaud will officially confirm by mail the reservation of the particular room to the fiancés / partners.
6) The cost of renting, using and fitting out the premises amounts to Frs 750.- on Saturday and Frs 350.- from Monday to Friday. This prize also includes the provision by the “Clos de la République” of a person assisting the registrar during his presence.
7) Special conditions can be granted to the fiancés who will continue the celebration within the premises and terrace of the “Clos de la République”.
8) Charges billed by the civil registry office relating to the preparatory procedure for marriage or registered partnership, as well as those for the celebration of the marriage or the registration of the partnership shall be invoiced directly to the fiancés / The Vaud Cantonal Civil Registry Office.
