The Dézaley Grand Cru “Récolte Choisie” 2018 is rewarded with 93 points by Robert Parker

” Notes of ripe pears and apples, honeydew melons, lychees, white asparagus, morels and crushed stones emerge from the glass! Filled with Patrick Fonjallaz’s beautifully clear and stimulating 2018 Dézaley Grand Cru Récolte Choisie, a pure and very mineral-scented Chasselas. Round and quite sweet on the palate, this is a rich and generous, very elegant and persistently mineral and salty wine that obviously stopped fermenting too early, although 14.5% alcohol is already a lot and indicates that the potential alcohol level was significantly higher. However, the fruit is brilliantly clear and fresh, and the wine is just gorgeous in its rare opulence and elegance. You can enjoy it on your own or pair it with rice dishes and curries from India. It’s really hard to stop tasting this wine. It tastes so cozy and, in a certain way, reminds me of a demi-sec Vouvray from Huet. Stimulatingly salty on the fine and delicious finish. A fabulous wine. Tasted in February 2020. “

” Patrick Fonjallaz’s 2018 Viognier du Château du Châtelard Grand Cru displays a straw-yellow color and opens with an intense, deep, pure and fresh yet reductive bouquet with burnt rubber notes in the first moments but also remarkable precision and with notes of crushed stones. Juicy and elegant on the palate, this is a full-bodied, aromatic, refined and finessed Viognier with a mineral background and a long, tightly structured and saline finish. Excellent.“
